Setting up your private cabin
If you’re acting as the cabin administrator, set your cabin preferences to "I want to create a private cabin."
Once in your cabin, you can invite your friends by typing their usernames into the invitation field. Eligible usernames should auto-populate. You can invite up to 19 campers. Remember, a Camper must have created a profile, a novel, and deselected "I don't want cabin invitations this session" to be eligible.
If you wish to rescind a Camper's invitation, click the "Remove" button to the right of his or her username. This only works before the Camper has joined.
If you have fewer than 19 Campers in your cabin and you'd like to meet some new friends, you can opt to make your cabin public by clicking the “Make this Cabin Public” button at the top of your cabin’s page. This will open your cabin to random sorting. You will no longer be able to invite anyone on your own, and all pending invitations will be deleted.
If you are the administrator for a populated cabin, you cannot opt out. All of the other cabin members need to leave first for you to opt out of your cabin.
Joining a private cabin
First, make sure you have a defined a project for the upcoming event.
Make sure you have selected "I don't want to be included in a cabin" in your cabin settings so you are not sorted into a random cabin while waiting for a private cabin invitation, and that you have deselected the "I don't want cabin invitations this session" option.
When you are invited to a private cabin, that invitation will pop-up the next time you log in, or refresh the Camp NaNoWriMo page. "Join Now" will take you to your new cabin home; "No Thanks" will delete the invitation.
Managing your cabin invites
If you want to turn off private cabin invitations, you can do so under your "Cabin Settings." Select the last option, "I don't want cabin invitations this session."
